KUCHING, Aug 18: Northern Sarawak is expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms from Aug 20 to 21 following a significant concentration of winds in western Sabah that may increase air humidity levels.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the situation poses the potential for prolonged downpours, especially in northern Sarawak, western Sabah, and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
“Analysis of the latest weather forecast models shows a concentration of winds in western Sabah beginning Aug 20-21, 2025.
“This condition could increase air humidity levels, which may in turn bring heavy rain with thunderstorms over a longer period,” the agency stated in a notice issued today.
MetMalaysia advised the public to stay updated through its official website at www.met.gov.my, official social media channels, and by downloading the myCuaca mobile application for the latest verified information. — DayakDaily
