KUCHING, July 13: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to affect several divisions across Sarawak until 6pm today (July 13), according to the latest weather alert from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The warning, issued at 3.30pm, includes the following areas in Sarawak: Kuching Division (Kuching), Serian Division, Samarahan Division, Sarikei Division (Julau and Meradong), Sibu Division, Mukah Division (Matu, Dalat, and Mukah), Kapit Division (Song), Bintulu Division, and Miri Division (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).
The thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert, valid for a maximum of six hours. It is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour, either imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay indoors, avoid flood-prone areas, and monitor official updates from MetMalaysia through its website and social media platforms. — DayakDaily
