KUCHING, Sept 26: Warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds have been issued for several areas in Sarawak, valid until 7pm tonight.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) said the affected areas are Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Sri Aman, Sarikei (Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song, Kapit, and Belaga), and Bintulu.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to occur for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release,” said the department. — DayakDaily
