KUCHING, Sept 3: Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds are expected across several divisions in Sarawak this afternoon, with a thunderstorm warning in effect until 5pm today (Sept 3).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the advisory, issued at 2.45pm today, covers Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang.

MetMalaysia noted the alert is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
