KUCHING, Oct 9: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather advisory for thunderstorms affecting several areas in Sarawak.

According to MetMalaysia, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), and Mukah (Daro and Matu).

The warning, which was issued at 12.40pm today, is expected to remain in effect until 3pm.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it said. — DayakDaily
