KUCHING, June 30: A community health screening event featuring cervical cancer screening (pap smear), human papillomaviruses (HPV) deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testting, and clinical breast examination, among others, is open to women of all ages and will be held at Kenyalang Park Community Association (KPCA) Hall on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 8am.
According to a press release, the event is jointly organised by the Jalan Chawan Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the Kelab Rekreasi Wanita Bersatu Kuching (KRWBK).
The event’s organising chairman, Kapitan Daisy Chan, disclosed that the medical examination will be assisted and supported by Nur Sejahtera Clinic under the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), a government agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development.
Mobile clinic and medical staff will be present to provide examination services to the public.
Basic examination services include testing for high blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol test, and blood sugar, as well as pap smear, clinical breast examination, and HPV DNA.
The event will begin at 8am and end at 12pm.
The public may choose between two packages offered by the clinic, with package one costing RM10 and including a blood pressure examination, body mass index examination, cholesterol blood test, and glucose blood test, and package two costing RM25 and including a pap smear, clinical breast examination, mammogram, and HPV DNA test.
Meanwhile, KRWBK chairwoman Sim Bee Kim stated in the press release that the price for the two medical check-up packages is excellent value for money, especially the HPV DNA test under package two, which would normally cost around RM400 in private hospitals or general clinics.
As per the organiser, only 100 people will be tested for HPV DNA on the specified day, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Furthermore, the press release indicated that women who want to have pap smear and HPV DNA tests should avoid checking during menstruation and not douche the vagina before the test, not use any vaginal suppositories or spermicides 48 hours before the test, and not have sex at least 24 hours before the test.
Chan also urged the public, particularly women, not to miss this examination and to be vigilant about their own health.
She also hopes that the general public will actively attend and register for the event early on the day. — DayakDaily
