SPAOH, Nov 4: The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Election Commission (EC) will decide on the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the upcoming 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12).
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the two authorities would be the ones which would make the final decision on electoral SOPs.
He told the media this after officiating a community policing workshop for about 90 community leaders at the Spaoh Community Hall here today.
“They will have the mechanism for the SOPs to be implemented and observed during the campaigning and casting of votes period,” added Uggah.
Uggah who is also the chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said his committee might be invited to provide input.
On vaccination, he said SDMC would ensure the State’s current booster dose programmes be proceed uninterrupted during the election.
Sarawak is targeting to administer 50,000 doses of booster shots this month.
Meanwhile, Uggah reminded the people against being complacent on the SOPs for the prevention of Covid-19 although there has been a decline in the number of positive Covid 19 cases recorded in the State.
He urges the people to continue to observe them faithfully as any carelessness might trigger a sharp increase in new Covid-19 cases.
Adding on, Uggah also advised them to send villagers who had developed fever to the nearest health clinics or hospitals for treatment as soon as possible.
He said procrastination was the reason leading to the Betong Division recording a high number of brought-in-dead (BID) victims recently.
Uggah was accompanied by political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu and Betong Divisional Health Officer Dr Johnny Pangkas at the community policing event.
