KUCHING, Jan 13: There has been no surge in daily Covid-19, hospitalisation and intensive care unit (ICU) cases in Sarawak after the 12th State Election (PRN12) in December last year.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in pointing this out, said the caseloads have instead dropped even after the year-end Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“It was found that there have been no increase in the number of (Covid-19) cases after PRN12, Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“The daily case numbers, hospitalisation and ICU cases have shown a downward trend,” he said in his Facebook post today.

The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Sarawak, he added, has also declined over the same period.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also said 75.6 per cent of the total Sarawak population have received their primary series vaccination while 62 per cent have gotten their booster doses, as of Jan 9, 2022.

He thus urged all Malaysians to get their Covid-19 booster shots when informed through MySejahtera. — DayakDaily
