KUCHING, Oct 21: In conjunction with the Sarawak Regatta 2025 and Kuching Waterfront Festival 2025, which will take place from Oct 24 (7am) to Nov 2 (6pm), several road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented around the Kuching Waterfront area to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate event preparations.
According to Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement, the closures will be carried out in stages throughout the event period, beginning with the opening ceremony on Oct 24 (7am to 6pm). Roads affected on that day include the stretch from Jalan Gambier to Jalan Main Bazaar and from Lebuh Wayang to Jalan Main Bazaar.
From Oct 24 (12pm to 6pm), closures will also involve the route from Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang, the slip road and traffic lights at St Mary heading towards Lebuh Wayang, as well as the slip road and traffic lights from Jalan Pearl towards Jalan Wawasan.
For the closing ceremony on Nov 2 (7am to 6pm), the same traffic arrangements will apply. The stretch from Jalan Gambier to Jalan Main Bazaar and from Lebuh Wayang to Jalan Main Bazaar will be closed, while from 12pm to 6pm, the route from Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang, the slip road and traffic lights at St Mary heading towards Lebuh Wayang, and the slip road and traffic lights from Jalan Pearl towards Jalan Wawasan will also be closed.
“The police advised the public, especially visitors attending the event, not to park their vehicles along the roadside in the affected areas to prevent congestion
“Motorists are also urged to plan their journeys and to use alternative routes throughout the event period,” he said. — DayakDaily
