KUCHING, Dec 29: The Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC) denied allegations circulating on social media that it was involved in the improper distribution, rental or misuse of houses under the Rumah Sri Pertiwi programme, stressing that the claims are unfounded and misleading.
In a statement issued in response to a viral Facebook post questioning the integrity of the programme, HDC said Rumah Sri Pertiwi is an affordable housing initiative by the Sarawak government aimed at households with monthly incomes ranging from RM4,000 to RM10,000, and is implemented in accordance with established State policies.
HDC clarified that the programme may be developed either by the government or the private sector, subject to approval by the Sarawak government, and that projects involving HDC through joint ventures are currently still under construction.
“As such, any allegations linking HDC directly to issues involving the allocation, rental or misuse of houses under the Rumah Sri Pertiwi programme are not true, have no factual basis and may mislead the public,” the statement said today.
The corporation added that it views the spread of inaccurate information seriously and urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified claims that could cause confusion or damage public confidence in government housing initiatives.
For accurate and official information, members of the public are advised to contact HDC directly at 082-444381 or refer to its official communication channels via hdc.sarawak.gov.my. — DayakDaily
