KUCHING, Nov 17: HAUS KCH will conclude ‘The Past Is Present Is Future’ art exhibition tomorrow (Nov 18), marking the end of the third installation of art festivals under Seni Kita Weekend.
Taking place since Nov 13, the art exhibition features work by Adrian Jo Milang, Elroy Ramantan, Jasmine Dadi, Marcos Kueh, Mira Hector, Pici Pamg, Sang Tukang, Tuh Dek and Zakaria Pangaribuan, in addition to cultural artefacts and heirlooms contributed by Asyilah Tan, Catriona Maddocks and Jasmine Dadi.
According to a media release, the closing day will commence at 11am with the art exhibition, followed by a curatorial tour with curators Sonia Luhong and Syed Rusydie post-lunch.
The afternoon programme will consist of a workshop led by Steff Fleur and Asyilah Tan, focusing on the significance of preparing a media kit, followed by a sharing session on ‘Bunyi Borneo: Traditional instruments and contemporary innovators’ by collective members of Borneo Boat Lute Revival.
As the evening progresses into the night, attendees can look forward to a captivating ‘Sunset Serenade Show’ elevated by music from Sabahans Tuni Sundatang and Sarawakians Rining Peter, Hayree Hisham, and Ezra Tekola.
The performance will be bolstered by poetry from Opah Aspa and Kulleh Grasi of Nading Rhapsody.
To cap off the night and celebrate the weekend, there will be a DJ Set by Kawaii Boy, accompanied by delightful drinks from Ngirupp and delectable cuisine courtesy of JAWS Shack.
Rusydie, the HAUS KCH director and Seni Kita programme director stated that the encouraging local reception towards contemporary works produced by fellow Borneans proves that modernity can indeed coincide with tradition.

Seni Kita is in its sixth iteration after it was launched in 2021.
This year, the event is divided into four-themed arts festivals planned by HAUS KCH, with the first quarterly appearance being āMarch with Womenā in March, followed by āMental Healthā in May and āSubcultureā in September.
The final quarterly appearance for Seni Kita in December is yet to be announced.
