KUCHING, April 24: Road closures will take effect in conjunction with Miri City’s Car-Free Day 2024 on April 27.
According to the press statement by Miri City Council (MCC), during the event, various roads including Jalan North Yu Seng and Jalan Merpati will be fully closed, with partial closures on Jalan Persekutuan, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, and Jalan Parry, from 5.30am to 11am.
Following the half-day road closure, MCC advised vehicle owners to plan ahead and consider alternative routes in order to reach their destinations.
Due to the expected high number of attendees, parking will be limited, with available options at Jalan Ansellia, Jalan Zinnia, Jalan Calliandra, Jalan Helenium, and Jalan Unus car parks.
MCC will deploy traffic wardens and install appropriate road diversion signs to assist drivers to navigate effectively.
“Come join us this Car-Free Day and be part of a global effort to reduce traffic and improve air quality by taking greener trips.
“A series of activities will be organised on that day, including dance exercise, fun walk, fun games, and lucky draws,” said MCC in its statement. — DayakDaily
