MIRI, Aug 25: A hairdresser has been remanded for three days until August 27 to assist a police investigation into theft inside a hair salon at Pujut 7 involving RM4,000 in missing items and cash.

He was detained around 4pm to assist the police probe into the case on August 23.

The incident was discovered by the salon’s owner after he reviewed CCTV footage on Aug 15.

Prior to viewing the CCTV footage, he had felt something was amiss with the business’ cash flow.

The owner also received complaints from customers that they were being charged too much for a haircut compared to the normal rate.

He suspected that some of the money received by the suspect was not placed in the cash register.

The suspect was produced at the Magistrates Court on Saturday for remand application.

The offence is framed under Section 381 of the Penal Code and is punishable with a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine.
