Foreigner detained in Bau in connection with illegal online gambling

The police raided a business premises suspecting to be an online gambling centre in Bau.

BAU, Aug 25:  A 37-year-old Indonesian man has been detained by the police in connection with illegal online gambling activities at a business premises at Jalan Seringgok here on Saturday evening.

The police confiscated one unit of mobile handphone, cash, a note with a bank account number, a wooden table and a chair during the raid.

The suspect who has no criminal record is being held under Section 4B(a) of Open Gambling Act 1953.


If found guilty, the suspect can be fined between RM10,000 to RM100,000 for every gambling machine and imprisonment of five years.

He is also being held under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1963 and can be fined to a maximum of RM10,000 or imprisonment of five years if found guilty. — DayakDaily
