Hair salon operator fined RM1000 for violating MCO

SIBU: A hair salon owner has been fined RM1,000 for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) today.

Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 55-year-old woman was caught opening her saloon to offer haircut service while the town is still under MCO.

“Barbershops or salons have not been allowed to operate throughout the MCO duration to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he said.


According to him, acting on public information received, a police MPV patrol team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang went to the premises and found that the salon premises was operating at about 2.30 pm on Jalan Belatok.

“Inspections carried out at the premises found hair scattered on the floor of the premises.

“The owner of the saloon had admitted to having a haircut service while the MCO is being enforced,” he said.

The woman was later taken to the police station and compound issued to her under Regulation (No.2) of the Infectious Disease Control (PPPPB) Regulations 2021. – DayakDaily
