SIBU, July 23: Sarawak-born singer Hafiz Suip brought the Sarawak Day 2026 Konsert Rakyat to a rousing finale last night, as thousands of people gathered at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang for a night of music and celebration.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the acclaimed singer captivated the crowd with his popular hits including “Bahagiamu Deritaku”, “Kisah Cinta Kita” and “Noktah Cinta”, drawing thunderous applause as he closed the concert on a high note.
Held in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, the concert began at 11pm and featured a line-up of local artistes and homegrown talents performing songs across various genres and languages, reflecting Sarawak’s multicultural identity.
The night opened with Ricky Andrewson’s performance of “Berkikis Bulu Betis”, followed by Claudia Geres who entertained the audience with “Berdua Lebih Baik” and the international hit “Baby One More Time”.
The crowd continued to enjoy performances by Firdaus Materang with “Kelentang Kelentong” and “Risk It All”, before Ericson took the stage with “Yank” and “Jangan Paksa Rindu”.
Kelly Ho added a multicultural touch to the celebration with Mandarin song “Shuo Ai Ni” and the FIFA World Cup anthem “Waka Waka”, while Mawat thrilled concertgoers with a medley featuring “Kembali Merindu”, “Tungkat Semengat”, “Kicau Maniac” and “Dayang Bintang”.
Malaysian singer and former Miss Malaysia Dewi Liana Seriestha also impressed the audience with performances of “Andai Saja” and “Dia”.
The Konsert Rakyat served as one of the highlights of the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, bringing together thousands of Sarawakians through music and entertainment while showcasing the State’s diverse pool of talents. — DayakDaily
