KUCHING, July 23: Former Parti Rakyat Bersatu (PSB) deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has not yet applied to join Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), revealed GPS secretary-general Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

According to him, Dr Jerip did apply to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) when the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem was PBB president and Chief Minister.

“As of now I am not aware of his political moves,” Nanta told DayakDaily here today.

Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Transportation, revealed he had resigned from PSB on July 11. It was believed that among the reasons he left the party was the lack of funding for his constituents.

However, he pledged his full support to the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as the Chief Minister. He also mentioned that his decision to leave PSB was for the “greater interest” of the Bidayuh community.

Dr Jerip was first elected as Bengoh (which was subsequently renamed as Mambong during the redelineation exercise in 2015) assemblyman in 2001. He was with Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) but left to form United People’s Party (UPP) in 2014, which was later rebranded as PSB.
