GPS retains Muara Tuang with overwhelming 6,237 majority

KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak retained N16 Muara Tuang after its candidate Datuk Idris Buang won with a 6,237 majority.

He polled 8,435 votes, defeating his contenders; independent candidate Ismawi Muhammad with 2,198 votes and Yakub Khalid of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) who polled 1,838 votes.


In a six-cornered contest, the other three contenders all lost their deposits.

They are Hipni Sulaiman of Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (Sedar), Hj Daud Eali of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and Sigandam Sulaiman of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) who only managed to obtain 357 votes, 239 votes and 190 votes, respectively.
