KUCHING, June 12: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is like a ‘beautiful lady’ who continues to attract suitors, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Repeating his previous call that GPS has been likened as a ‘beautiful woman’, Abang Johari said, “When you are attractive, everyone will want you on their side.

“However, it all depends on the parents if they think the in-law is suitable or not. If the in-law is terrible, who will accept?” he said in jest when asked by a reporter on rumours that Pakatan Harapan (PH) camp has been courting GPS to jump ship to form the new Federal Government.

Abang Johari, who is also GPS chairman, had on numerous occasions said that GPS as a coalition of four parties consisting of PBB, PRS, SUPP and PDP would only work with a friendly federal government and not which has continued to undermine its development efforts.

“As for who was courted, that one I leave it to you (to interpret). Usually outsiders will know who are the target,” he added.

The PH government, which won the 14th general election, fell apart in February after continuous internal bickering which subsequently led to Perikatan Nasional (PN), under Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin taking over the reins of power on February 29.

However, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have continued undermining the current PN-led federal government and described it as a ‘backdoor’ government.—DayakDaily
