KUCHING, Nov 7: A retired teacher showed up to support her former student, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for P215 Kapit, Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, during nomination day on Saturday (Nov 5).
According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS), Rosnah Rakawi, 79, looked restless with a smile, waving the GPS flag at the grounds of the State Government Complex at Jalan Bleteh that day.
When met by reporters, Rosnah said she used to teach Nanta and recalled that he was a good and disciplined student.
“I am also proud of him for being able to serve the people. Nanta’s people-minded personality made him the people’s choice in Kapit,” she added.
Asked about her hopes for Nanta if he succeeds in defending the Kapit parliamentary seat again after this, Rosnah hoped that Nanta would consider building a Sarawak Federation of Women Institute (PPWS) in Kapit.
“I would like to see it built in Kapit to help rural women by creating planned programmes and activities that provide them with education and skills, including programmes such as healthy eating, personal hygiene care, cooking, handicrafts, and many others,” she said. — DayakDaily
