“The victim claimed that she came across a part-time job advertisement on Facebook in August 2024. Interested in the offer, she contacted an individual named ‘Zoe’ via WhatsApp as mentioned in the advertisement,” he said.

Zulkifli added that the victim was instructed to perform several tasks, including clicking a link and hitting the ‘like & submit’ button, with a promise of receiving a commission upon completion.

The scammer later offered a higher commission, but only on the condition that the woman needs to make payments.

Enticed by the offer, the victim made five transactions totaling RM39,463, to five different local bank accounts.

“After the payments were made, the suspect demanded more money from the victim so that she could receive the promised commission.

But when the victim tried to contact the suspect, she discovered that her calls had been blocked. She subsequently filed a police report,” he said

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. — DayakDaily
