KUCHING, April 23: The federal government is determining the best process to allow students who have been staying put in colleges and universities during the movement control order (MCO) to return to their families.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin noted this will involve approximately 100,000 students and the process must be arranged appropriately with the advice from the Ministry of Health (MoH).

“We must plan the movement of students carefully so as to prevent them from being exposed to the infection of the novel coronavirus.

“Before they are allowed to return home, we need to ensure that they are healthy and free from any (Covid-19) symptoms.

“For students who are still staying on campus, hopefully, all of you will return to your family’s side soon,” Muhyiddin said during a live telecast broadcast on major media channels on the eve of Ramadan at Putrajaya.

Muhyiddin added the federal government is finalising the details of the travel arrangement and it will be announced soon.

He urged parents to be patient and allow some time for the relevant ministry to make the arrangement. — DayakDaily
