[VIDEO] GOF officer found dead with gunshot wound in crashed 4WD at Jalan Riam

MIRI, March 18: A General Operations Force (GOF) personnel with the rank of corporal was found dead with a gunshot wound to his left rib in his crashed four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Riam, nearby the Hilltop Garden, here on Thursday night.

Medical personnel and the police responded to a report on the accident around 8.30pm and found the car had crashed into a tree where they found the deceased, who was in his 30s, in the driver’s seat.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“He was the sole occupant of the 4WD,” said Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari when contacted this morning, adding that the body has been taken to Miri Hospital.

“At the moment, we are investigating the case as sudden death prior to the post-mortem examination. We need to wait for reports for a clearer picture,” said Hakemal.

Preliminary investigations showed that earlier, the 4WD driven by the deceased was heading towards the main road.

The public has been urged not to speculate or spread unverified information about the case.
