KUCHING, Oct 30: The Go Digital Asean programme in Sarawak is expected to roll out in November 2020 and will be run in two phases.
Phase One will be from Nov 1 to 6 in the Central and Northern zones of Sarawak, while Phase Two will be from Nov 16 to 21 covering the Southern, Central and Northern zones of Sarawak.
This community partnership between Google.org, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) aims to narrow or even close the digital gap acrossĀ Asean countries.
“The Go Digital Asean programme is designed to equip MSMEs (Micro-small and medium enterprises) and emerging workforce, particularly those in rural and isolated areas, with digital skills and tools.
“It also aims to expand economic opportunities across Asean countries, and minimise the negative impact from the Covid-19 crisis,” said Pustaka in a press statement today.
It added that this program is estimated to be able to reach out to 200,000 underserved people and rural micro-enterprises across the region, including 60 percent women and 40 percent youth.
Thus, it is envisaged that Pustake could reach at least 1,500 youth in Sarawak and this program will be delivered through its 42 Digital Community Centres (DCCs) established at Pustaka’s network of Rural Libraries as well as at that of the 38 Pusat Internet Desa also managed by Pustaka.
Alongside the Go Digital Asean program, projects like Reading Seeds and PANDei are to be implemented simultaneously in the whole of Sarawak.-DayakDaily
