Give free preventive supplies to help curb Covid-19 spread, state and federal govts told

Priscilla Lau

KUCHING, March 16: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) secretary-general Priscilla Lau is calling on both state and federal governments to provide free preventive supplies to the public in light of the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

Lau in a statement noted the world is facing a pandemic outbreak of a virus that is without a vaccine for prevention and/or cure at the moment.

“However as a nation we can together be civic-minded towards each other. We must be responsible enough to self-quarantine and be tested if we have been exposed.

“PBK urges both our state and federal governments to protect Sarawakians by giving us all free face masks (since Malaysia is the top producer), disinfectants and sanitizers,” she said.

Lau also noted that the price of face masks, disinfectants and sanitizers in the market are being marked up (without official receipt).

“Do not take this issue lightly. Remember Italy where in 20 days, the pandemic went from zero to over 10,000. Sarawak’s hospitals are not equipped to deal with this.

“So we urge everyone to come together as Sarawakians and care for each other enough to know when to self-quarantine without the authorities or anyone else telling you to do so,” she added.

Lau also pointed that PBK has issued a simple guideline for Sarawakians to follow during this pandemic.

“It is available from our website at www.e-pbk.com and our Facebook page “Parti Bumi Kenyalang,” she added. — DayakDaily
