KUCHING, Dec 3: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be given a chance to run the country under his unity government, says Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang.

He said this when applauding the inclusivity of the Federal cabinet line-up announced by Anwar yesterday (Dec 2).

Gira also said the appointment of a Sarawak MP as one of the Deputy Prime Ministers (DPM) shows the recognition of the Borneo bloc in the unity government.

“I, as a Sarawakian, am very happy when five of our MPs from GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) were appointed as full ministers.

“With these appointments, I believe Sarawak can progress better in Federal and State levels,” he said in a statement today.

Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also GPS chief whip, and United Malays National Organisation (Umno) chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi were named DPM in Anwar’s new cabinet. — Dayakdaily
