KUCHING, Jan 24: It is expected to be a wet Chinese New Year next week, with heavy rain set to persist in Sarawak from Jan 27 to 30.
In a notice by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today, it said a monsoon trough is expected to enter Malaysia’s region starting Jan 26 to 30. This situation has the potential to cause heavy and continuous rain in Sarawak and Sabah.
MET Malaysia also issued a persistent rain warning alert for Sarawak and Sabah from Jan 27 to 30.
Meanwhile, in an advisory notice issued at 4pm today, MET Malaysia predicted heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in several districts across Sarawak from now until 7pm.
These areas include Kuching, Sarikei (Julau and Meradong), Sibu, Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang.
The department advised members of the public to always refer to its website and official social media pages, as well as to download the myCuaca application, for the latest information on the weather. – DayakDaily
