KUCHING, July 30: Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala has been sworn in today as the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Deputy Speaker for the third term.
Gerawat took his oath before the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Astana Negeri this morning.
The ceremony began with Gerawat accepting the Letter of Appointment and took his oath of office, which was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Gerawat, who is the first Orang Ulu to be appointed to the position, has assumed the role and functions for four years now. He was first appointed to the position in May 2016.
The simple ceremony was also attended by state Cabinet ministers and other dignitaries.—DayakDaily
