Kuching, March 3: Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Dato Gerawat Gala has tested positive for Covid-19.
Yesterday on March 2, he had undergone a Covid-19 RTK test as a pre-event requirement and the test result returned positive.
A PCR test also returned positive for Covid-19.
He had no symptoms and his regular self-testing for the last few days had been negative.
“As a precaution, prior to any travel and events, I do the RTK test daily and wear masks, wash my hands and follow the SOP,” said Gerawat in a statement on his official Facebook page.
His immediate household, staff and close contacts have been informed and all have undergone the RTK test with negative results.
“They are now self-isolating for a minimum 5 days for precautionary measures and will conduct their 3rd day RTK test based on the applicable SOP,” said Gerawat.
Gerawat whose portfolio is Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, said he had submitted a report of his positive result through the MySejahtera app.
He will undergo isolation and conduct self-monitoring for seven (7) days as per the latest SOP requirements from the Ministry of Health (MOH). — DayakDaily
