KUCHING, Nov 1: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president and Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas believes that Santubong incumbent Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s decision not to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15) presents an opportunity for the younger generation who wish to participate in politics.
Uggah told reporters this today after the 7th Borneo Occupational Safety And Health (BOSH) Conference And Exhibition 2022 opening ceremony, which was held at a hotel here.
When asked for his thoughts on Wan Junaidi’s decision not to defend his parliamentary seat in GE15, Uggah opined that PBB has always had a culture in which members step down when they feel their time is up.
“So, most importantly, we must provide opportunities for the younger generation because politics is difficult.
“Therefore, we greatly respect and appreciate Wan Junaidi’s decision to step down,” he added.
However, Abang Johari stated that he has not made a final decision on whether or not to allow Wan Junaidi to step down from his seat.
