SIBU, April 13: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) Youth pledges to give its full support to any candidate nominated by the party’s top leadership for the 14th General Election (GE14) with polling due on May 9.
Its youth chief Julius Enchana said they will provide support to the party’s candidates who will be contesting.
He was responding to the recent statement by PBDSB election director Rapelson Richard Hamit who called on party members and leaders to support all candidates nominated by the party.
“I agree with Rapelson. The process of screening candidates has to go through several stages because the integrity of the individuals are of utmost importance.
“We strongly insist on integrity, credibility and accountability in the candidates, not just popularity,” said Julius in a statement today.
Echoing Rapelson’s earlier statement, he added the Youth will uphold public interests over personal ones.
“We will continue with the Dayak agenda; the decisions of Rapelson and the Supreme Council will get full support from the youth.
“We must stay united to capture the seats previously belonging to PBDS (Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak),” he stressed.
Julius pointed out that PBDSB is a truly local opposition party that should be supported by the Dayak and other Sarawak communities.
This according to him was because the party is unique and independent, as it is free from Peninsular Malaysia’s interference in its decisions and direction.
“PBDSB is a party with absolute autonomous power. It does not have to wait for the boss from Malaya to give the green light, which was evident (among other parties) in the last state election,” he said.
Julius who is a potential GE14 candidate kept mum over his own potential candidacy for Lanang constituency.
He is presently the chairman for Dudong Dayak Association. — DayakDaily
