GE14 candidates: UPP hopes hard work pays off

KUCHING, Oct 24: United People’s Party (UPP) hopes that their proposed candidates will be picked to represent Barisan National (BN) in the coming general election.

Its president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said they had been working very hard to serve the people and hoped to be recognised as more winnable.

“Let’s not argue who the candidates are, or who are the winnable candidates.

“We are working very hard, serving the people; we hope that our proposed candidates will be recognised by the leaders in BN as more winnable,” he told reporters after launching the GDEX E-Commerce Hub and Linehaul at Batu Kitang here today.

The Second Minister of Finance said he had met Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently over this matter.

“I leave the decision to the leaders of BN, to our CM and our PM,” he stressed.

UPP had recently set up a mobile action team in Pujut to assist the public.

In the last state election, many UPP leaders had quit the party to contest as direct BN candidates, including Wong, his deputy Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Ranum Mina in Opar , Engkilili assemblyman Johnical Rayong, Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King and Datuk Hii King Chiong in Pujut. — DayakDaily
