SAMARAHAN, May 28: In view of the Gawai Dayak celebrations and school holidays, the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) will extend the operating hours of ferry services in Samarahan and Sarikei Division.
The extended operating hours at Batang Lupar Ferry Terminal in Samarahan will be in effect from May 31 to June 4 to accommodate the expected increase in traffic.
Three ferries will be operating and their services will be from 4.30am till midnight (Primrose XXVI), from 5.30am till midnight (Primrose XXVIII), and from 8am till 10pm (Feri Harapan).
Meanwhile, at the Sungai Sian Bintangor Ferry Terminal in Sarikei, two ferries will be operating from 5am till 11pm and 6am till 10pm respectively.
The special ferry service is scheduled to take place on May 30 and 31 as well as from June 1 to 3.
Earlier, JKR Sarawak has also announced the extended operating hours for ferry services in Mukah division which will be in effect from May 31 to June 4.
At the Kuala Igan Ferry Terminal, two ferries will be operating and their services will be from 4am till midnight (Ferry 1) and from 6am till midnight (Ferry 2), respectively.
At Muara Lassa and Batang Paloh ferry terminals, they will each have two ferries operating from 6am till midnight. — DayakDaily
