KUCHING, June 14: The roads along Kuching Waterfront are to be closed on June 14-15 to make way for the Gawai Dayak Cultural Parade 2024.
Sarawak Commissioner of Police Dato Mancha Ata, in a statement today, said on June 14, the closure will start at 2pm for the parade rehearsal, while on June 15, the closure will start at 6.30am until the parade ends.
Among the roads closed during the period are Jalan Market/Jalan Masjid, Jalan Gambier/Jalan Power, Jalan Old Court House/Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Carpenter, Jalan Wawasan/Jalan Lebuh Wayang/Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Padungan/ Jalan Bukit Mata, Abell road traffic light junction/Jalan Petanak, and Sri Aman roundabout/Jalan Abell junction.
He advised road users to park their vehicles at the parking spaces provided, namely at Reservoir Park, Saujana Building, Taman Budaya, Top Spot Car Park, Sarawak Plaza Car Park, Civic Centre, Tun Jugah Building, Medan Pelita Building, Plaza Merdeka Building, and Plaza Aurora Building.
For safety reasons, he reminded members of the public that flying drones during the parade is prohibited without approval and permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). — DayakDaily
