KUCHING, May 24: The Sarawak police will launch ‘Op Lancar’ State-wide from May 30 to June 4 in conjunction with Gawai Dayak.
In a statement today, Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata said about 400 police officers and personnel from the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will be deployed for the six-day operation to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
“The focus will be on federal, State, and city roads, especially in accident-prone areas, including at strategic locations with frequent traffic congestion,” he said.
He advised road users to comply with traffic rules and follow the instructions given by enforcement officers on duty during the operation period.
He also warned that stern action would be taken against those who are found in violation of traffic rules.
Meanwhile, Mancha reminded members of the public who are returning to their hometowns during the festival period to inform their local police stations so that patrols can be sent to their housing area. — DayakDaily
