Gas leak sparks small explosion at Sematan food stall, elderly woman injured

KUCHING, June 24: An elderly woman sustained facial burns following a small explosion caused by a gas leak at a food stall in Sri Sematan NorHikmah earlier this morning.

According to TVS, a call was received at 9.06am, and personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) Lundu station were deployed.

Upon arrival, it was noted that the victim, identified as 63-year-old Timah Asri, was rushed to Lundu Hospital by family members after the incident occurred.

The report also noted that remnants of an explosion were found at the scene, believed to have originated from a leak at the connection between a Butterfly High Pressure Gas Regulator and the gas cylinder valve.

Further investigation at the scene also involved questioning eyewitnesses. — DayakDaily
