Funeral clusters of Emperoh Jambu, Gelong and Pasai continue to grow with total 14 new cases

KUCHING, March 3: Three funeral clusters of Emperoh Jambu in Kuching, Gelong in Kapit and Pasai in Sibu continued to see rise in cases with 11, two and one new cases confirmed respectively today. 

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas reported that eight out of 25 active clusters in Sarawak recorded increase in cases today.
 
Apart from the funeral clusters, three clusters linked to social gatherings of Jalan Muhibbah in Betong, Jalan Green in Kuching and Jalan Ho Pin in Samarahan recorded five, three and one new cases respectively while workplace cluster of Sungai Bakong in Meradong picked up two new cases and Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching added one more case today. 

Of the 11 confirmed cases linked to Emperoh Jambu Cluster, one was detected in Serian. This thus took the cluster’s total to 182. As of today, a total of 900 individuals have been screened whereby 489 were negative and 229 still awaiting for lab test results. 

With two new cases added to Gelong Cluster in Kapit, this brought the total number of cases in this cluster to 186 so far. A total of 233 individuals have been screened whereby 47 were negative with no results pending. 

As for the infamous Pasai Cluster which number of new infections has been falling steadily for some time and remaining low, it picked up one case in Song district to push the cluster’s total to 2,667. 

A total of 41,500 individuals have been screened whereby 38,756 were negative while 77 were still awaiting for results. 

Jalan Muhibbah Cluster added another five cases today to increase the total number of cases in the cluster to 123 so far. A total of 2,043 individuals have been screened whereby 1,586 were negative and 352 were still awaiting for results. 

As for the Jalan Green Cluster, one case was confirmed to being the cluster’s total to 28. A total of 300 individuals have been screened whereby 257 were negative and 15 were still awaiting results. 

Jalan Ho Pin Cluster in Samarahan which was triggered by Chinese New Year visitings added one case today to bring the cluster’s total to 16 cases. A total of 130 individuals have been screened whereby 107 were negative and seven still awaiting for results. 

Sungai Bakong Cluster which was linked to a workplace in Meradong registered two new cases to push the cluster’s total to 147. A total of 1,348 individuals have been screened whereby 600 were negative while 601 were still awaiting for results. 

The Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching also registered two cases today to take the total number of cases in the cluster to 47 so far. A total of 210 individuals have been screened whereby 155 were negative and eight still awaiting for results. 

The remaining 17 clusters did not report any cases today. They are Tangap Sub-Cluster in Subis; Buloh in Selangau; Kejatau and Sebangkoi in Sri Aman; Jan Yong in Kapit; Geronggang and Mas Merah in Sibu; Univista in Samaraha; Kidurong Dua and Jun Heng in Bintulu; Nanga Lijau in Julau; Seruas in Beluru; Bintang Daily in Meradong; Jalan Pengiran in Matu; Tabong in Bau, Indah Riang in Kuching, as well as Rakut and Jelita in Miri. 

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded one Covid-19 fatality in Sibu today and 139 new cases with Sibu recording the highest number of daily infections with 39 cases followed by Kuching (29), Bintulu (17), Betong (13), Kapit and Bau (6 each), Meradong, Miri and Selangau (5 each), Pusa and Serian (4 each), Sebauh (2), as well as Julau, Sarikei, Asajaya and Song with one case each respectively. 

This thus increased the State tally of positive cases to 10,063 and death toll to 84. — DayakDaily
