Funeral cluster Emperoh Jambu’s infection rate top among 28 Sarawak active clusters

KUCHING, March 13: Funeral cluster of Emperoh Jambu has recorded the highest daily toll of 20 new Covid-19 cases, among all 28 active clusters in Sarawak.

According to the reports by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the cluster in Kuching now has a cumulative number of 298 cases, only two cases away from breaching the 300 mark.

Among the 20 positive cases today, 15 were reported in Kuching, four in the neighbouring Samarahan and one in Saratok.

As of today, 1,550 individuals have been screened where 1,096 were negative and 156 more samples are waiting for laboratory test results.

Coming in second, with nine new cases, was the Sena Cluster linked to a community in Miri and two other longhouses in Subis.

This cluster with a total of 70 cases to date was only declared yesterday (March 12).

SDMC said 190 individuals found related to the cluster have been screened where 107 of them were negative and 13 more awaiting test results from the laboratory.

The other clusters registering new cases in the past 24 hours were the Pasai Cluster with six cases, Bukit Tunggal Cluster with three cases and Sungai Bakong Cluster with one case.

Meanwhile, 23 clusters did not report any new cases today. They were Jalan Main Bazaar, Kejatau and Sebangkoi in Sri Aman; Buluh Pasi in Meradong; Kiba, Jalan Awang, Geronggang and Mas Merah in Sibu; Jalan Muhibbah in Betong; Gelong and Jan Yong in Kapit; Melor in Pusa; Buloh in Selangau; Jalan Ho Pin and Univista in Samarahan; Jalan Green and Kampung Sungai Maong in Kuching; Kidurong and Jun Heng in Bintulu; Nanga Lijan in Julau; Seruas in Beluru; Tabong in Bau; Rakut in Miri as well as sub-cluster Tangap in Subis. — DayakDaily
