KUCHING, Mar 1: Strength, diligence, speed and resilience—the qualities symbolised by the Year of the Horse—are the traits Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi hopes the community will embrace as inspiration to move forward together in developing the Song District.
While attending a Chinese New Year dinner organised by several Chinese associations in the Song district on Saturday (Feb 28), Nanta—who is also the Minister of Works—urged everyone to stay focused on their objectives, the people’s well-being, and the development of Song and the Kapit Division as a whole.
“I remind the Chinese community and all multi-ethnic communities in the Song District and especially in the Kapit Division to continue preserving the unity and harmony that we have built over the years.
“Do not dwell on negative thoughts or harbour hatred toward one another. Let us set aside unhealthy practices and not be influenced by the culture of conflict that often occurs elsewhere.
“Technology today has both its benefits and drawbacks. Use it wisely and never become involved in spreading slander,” he said in a Facebook post, adding that he and Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan are always open to collaborating and assisting the people.
He said that with the support of all parties—including the district officer, departmental officers, and government agencies—they are able to move in a more organised and effective manner in developing our district and the Kapit Division comprehensively.
“Our struggle in Sarawak must remain united under the umbrella of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for the stability and progress of our beloved State.
“Thank you for the warm reception and the spirit of togetherness shown. Gong Xi Fa Cai! May the Year of the Horse bring prosperity, health, and success to us all.” — DayakDaily
