KUCHING, May 19: An anti-rabies vaccination campaign will take place tomorrow (May 20) from 9am to 4pm at the multipurpose hall of Kampung Semaba.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) encourages pet owners to take this opportunity and bring their dogs to follow up on their annual vaccination.
Additionally, MPP will provide free dog licensing registration and microchipping services during the event.
The Council also reminded pet owners that failure to ensure pets receive rabies vaccination violates Section 40 of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1990, which may result in a fine not exceeding RM2,500.
In addition, MPP also warned that dogs caught without proof of vaccination may be impounded and disposed of accordingly.
Alternatively, pet owners can also bring their pets for vaccination to the divisional offices of the Department of Veterinary Sarawak (DVS) during office hours.
As a reminder, ensure the pet dog is above three months old and in good health condition to be eligible for rabies vaccination.
Pet owners must bring their identification card and, if available, their pet vaccination card.
After vaccination, it is necessary to quarantine and isolate the dog for 28 days to allow the rabies immunity to strengthen.
For at least one week following the vaccination, the dog should not be bathed and should avoid contact with other animals of unknown vaccination status.
Pet owners are advised to always keep their dogs within the confines of their house compound. — DayakDaily
