Franchis Harden: Eight Kenyalang Gold Card beneficiaries receive bereavement benefits

KUCHING, Jan 8: A total of eight Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) holder’s beneficiaries in Sri Aman received their “Bantuan Ihsan Kematian” (BIK) incentive of RM3,000 each.

The Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development (KWKPK) Sarawak in a statement today said the monetary assistance was given to the recipients during a presentation ceremony held in Sri Aman, yesterday, and the ceremony was graced by the KWKPK assistant minister Datuk Franchis Harden Hollis, who is also the assemblyman for Simanggang.

“For the record, as of Jan 8, 2021, the Sri Aman Division Social Welfare Office has received a total of 10,923 applications (of KGC cards), and 9,355 of the KGC cards has been distributed to the applicants who are over the age of 60-years old.


“For the application of BIK beneficiaries of KGC cardholders who has passed away as of Jan 8, 2021, the State Welfare Department (JKMB) Sri Aman has also approved a total of RM450,000 for 150 BIK applicants, including the eight beneficiaries who received the incentives from the Sarawak Government through KWKPK, which was presented by Datuk Francis Harden Hollis,” it said.

Apart from that, the statement noted, the ceremony also saw the presentation of Fire Disaster Relief to fire victim, Jame Anak William, whose house in Tekalong Dor Melugu, was destroyed in a fire incident on Dec 1, 2020.

“A total of RM8,800 were given by the Sarawak Government under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as the assistance to the victim,” the statement read. –DayakDaily.
