KAPIT, April 30: The Katibas, Bukit Goram, Baleh, and Pelagus branches of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) have resolved for the party’s president and two deputy president posts not to be contested at this year’s triennial delegates conference (TDC) in June.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is currently PBB president, while Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan are deputy presidents.

Commending the four branches for adopting the resolutions, Uggah emphasised that PBB, since its formation in 1973, has grown from strength to strength because of its members’ unity and discipline.

“This has enabled the party to be the backbone of the Sarawak government. This unity, discipline and strength too have enabled PBB to weather a few ‘storms’ and ‘typhoons’ coming its way,” he said in a statement today.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, officiated at the triennial delegates meetings of the four PBB branches at the Civic Centre here today.

He also urged all party members not to rest on their laurels but further strengthen the party to continuously contribute to the State’s development, progress, and prosperity.

“Let all branches continue to recruit more young members,” he called on. — DayakDaily
