Four new longhouse clusters identified in Tatau, Bintulu, Beluru and Limbang

KUCHING, Sept 20: Four new community clusters involving longhouses residents were identified in Tatau, Bintulu, Beluru and Limbang, with 100 positive cases so far.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, said in Tatau, the new community cluster dubbed the Sungai Separai 2 Cluster, involved longhouse residents located in KM8 along Jalan Tatau, which is under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) implementation.

From the 52 individuals screened, 12 of them including the index case were found positive for Covid-19, as 40 others are still waiting for their test results, and 11 new cases were reported from the cluster today.


At the same time, SDMC said in Bintulu, the new cluster dubbed the Jalan Bintulu-Miri 3 Cluster, involved residents of a longhouse which is located in Batu 37, along Bintulu-Miri road, that is also under EMCO implementation.

Out of 76 individuals who were screened, 45 of them were found positive including the index case, while 31 other individuals still pending test results, with 42 new cases were reported from the cluster.

According to the committee, all positive cases from both Sungai Separai 2 Cluster and Jalan Bintulu-Miri 3 Cluster were referred to the hospital, as well as the Covid-19 low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) and Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Bintulu district.

Meanwhile, SDMC said in Miri, the new community cluster dubbed the Chama Ajai Cluster, involved residents of a longhouse located in Sungai Chabu that is under a lockdown.

From the total of 60 individuals who were screened, 27 of them including the index case were found positive, and the test results for 33 others returned negative.

SDMC noted seven new cases were also reported from the cluster today and all positive cases were brought to the Miri hospital, including to the PKRC and CAC in the district.

Separately, the Ulu Lubai Cluster in Limbang, which is also the new community cluster, was detected involving a longhouse residents situated in Ulu Lubai of Medamit, and out of 88 individual screened, 16 of them were found positive including the index case, while 70 others are still waiting for laboratory test results.

The committee said the cluster also reported five new cases today and all of positive individuals were brought to the Limbang hospital, PKRC and CAC in the district. – DayakDaily
