KUCHING, Jan 1: A sigh of relief was heaved as all occupants of four houses at Jalan Taman Desa Ras Tudan, Miri managed to escape before a fire razed them down to the ground.
According to a statement from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre (PGO), four houses including a Kancil and a Mitsibushi 4-wheel-drive (4WD) were burnt out completely without involving any casualties.
An emergency call regarding a house fire was received at 1.29pm and assets from Bomba Lopeng and Bomba Miri were immediately deployed to the location.
As soon as they arrived, the fire had already destroyed three houses and two vehicles, and it took the Bomba teams a while to have the fire under full control at 2.12pm as they began the overhaul work.
“The fire involved four houses on three lots. The first lot had two houses with measurements of 30 ft x 40 ft. The first house was completely destroyed including two vehicles before the fire spread to the second house.
“The third house on the second lot with a measurement of 15 ft x 15 ft, and the fourth house on the third lot with the same measurement were also 100 percent destroyed,” it reported.
Upon completion of putting out the fire and gathering information, the operation ended at 3.40pm.
The fire was extinguished using three water nozzles including two hose reels from their machinery and one from the 100-foot transmission hose connected to a nearby fire hydrant.āDayakDaily
