KUCHING, May 20: Covid-19 has found its way to four families at Jalan Kenyalang Park here, infecting a total of 27 individuals as of today and forming the community cluster dubbed the Kenyalang Park Cluster.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) disclosed that all the Covid-19 cases had been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) or the Kuching Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment purposes.
“A total of 65 individuals were screened where 27 cases were detected as positive for Covid-19 including the index case, and 38 cases returned negative results,” it added in a statement today.
The Kenyalang Park Cluster was one out of two new clusters declared today.
The second cluster, also a community cluster, has been dubbed the Tebakang Cluster and centres on the Tebakang Melayu Village in Serian. So far 19 cases have been confirmed.
Meanwhile, SDMC also reported the expiration of three clusters namely the Jalan Baji Cluster in Sarikei, Nanga Kelangas Cluster in Julau and Taman Mesra Bako Cluster in Kuching after they reported zero cases over a period of 28 consecutive days.
With this, there are now a total of 83 active clusters across Sarawak with 11 of them registering a total of 66 new cases in the most recent 24-hour period.
The remaining 72 clusters did not report any new infections today. — DayakDaily
