Four arrested for suspected ‘syabu’ possession

MIRI, Sept 23: Police on Sunday night arrested four local men on suspicion of involvement in drug possession and seized substances believed to be ‘syabu’ weighing 17 grammes.

According to State Narcotics Crime Investigation department (NCID) head Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid, the seizure was valued at RM2,720.


“Three of the suspects are being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the fourth under Section 15(1) of the same Act,” he disclosed when contacted today.

He added, the suspects aged between 22 to 31, were picked up by Miri NCID during a raid at a quadruplex unit in Bandar Baru Permyjaya here around 9.20pm.

During the raid, one of the suspects handed over a breath mint container to the cops.

Inspection of the container revealed six transparent plactic packets containing crsytals suspected to be ‘syabu’ with a total weight of 17 grammes.

“All suspects are currently being detained at Miri NCID for questioning,” said Hasnir.

Three of the suspects tested positive for drugs, while the fourth suspect tested negative. — DayakDaily
