Four arrested for armed gang robbery in Miri

MIRI, July 14: Police on Saturday night arrested three local men and a woman in connection with an armed gang robbery that occurred in Taman Tunku.

The alleged incident occured on Friday around 10am.

In the incident, a man was allegedly threatened by the suspects with an object, which the victim thought was a gun, but was actually an iron rod wrapped with newspapers.

Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over RM1,200 in cash to the suspects who later fled the scene. A police report was lodged later that same night.

The suspects who are in their late 20’s and 30’s were picked up by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel during an operation on Saturday.

Also seized was an iron rod believed to have been used by the suspects in the alleged robbery.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 for gang robbery and armed robbery.

The suspects are currently detained at Miri Central Police station (CPS).
