KUCHING, Aug 6: Development projects in the Gedong and Simunjan constituencies can be implemented successfully through a forward-looking leadership.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said projects that have been announced and those in planning are just waiting to be implemented.
“The planning has been done, and it only awaits for implementation to make Gedong and the surrounding areas, including Simunjan up to Sebuyau, become developed areas equipped with roads, modern agriculture and other basic facilities,” he said when officiating at an appreciation dinner with Gedong leaders at a local hotel in Kuching last night (Aug 5).
Abang Johari, who is also Gedong assemblyman, further said Gedong and Simunjan have the potential to produce a modern agricultural sector and benefit the local population.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, who is also Batang Sadong MP, said the appreciation dinner would serve as an opportunity to hear the sharing and experiences of former leaders, including former Gedong assemblyman Datuk Naroden Majais who has progressively developed the Gedong area.
Among those present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development and Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo; Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Executive Secretary Datuk Awang Bujang Awang Antek; Samarahan Resident Brahim Lumpu; PBB Gedong vice chief Ali Bujang and District Officer Abdul Khalid Manap. — DayakDaily
