KUCHING, Sept 23: Former Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng has advised the organiser of the 17th Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival 2018 (17KIMF) to maintain the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’ for future editions of the carnival.

It is a known fact that Salahuddin has yet to miss any invitation to the festival since its inception 17 years ago.

Last night, even though he was suffering from a broken toe, he was pleased to witness that after 17 years, the festival was not only a success but has grown exponentially in terms of size and content, especially when compared to last year’s.

“You must keep to your theme ‘Unity In Diversity’ in your treatment of the event so as to maintain its character and values,” he said.

He noted the additional stalls participating and also mentioned that the overwhelming crowd was a pleasant development.

The former governor visited many of the stalls and attractions on the festival site.

A small entourage accompanied Salahuddin for this year’s visit. The honoured guests included Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah and Consul General of China Cheng Guangzhong and his wife. — DayakDaily
