KUCHING, Feb 12: Former Sri Aman MP Dato Masir Kujat has joined Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).
PBM president Datuk Larry Sng said Masir was among several Dayak professionals who had applied to join the party.
“He (Masir) was also appointed secretary-general of the party at our first Supreme Council meeting this year.
“Several other appointments were made, and the restructuring of several state committees has been completed. PBM is moving forward,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Masir was previously with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) when he was elected as Sri Aman MP in 2008. He then defended the seat for three terms.
In 2019, he resigned from PRS and joined Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
After the 2021 Sarawak Election, where he stood as PSB’s Balai Ringin candidate and lost against incumbent Datuk Snowdan Lawan of PRS, Masir resigned from PSB and became an Independent parliamentarian.
In the 15th General Election (GE15), Independent Masir failed to defend the Sri Aman seat, where he was defeated by PRS Women chief Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie. — DayakDaily
